Fourth Brooklyn Man Indicted In Plot To Support ISIS
A federal grand jury has indicted a fourth Brooklyn man in an alleged plot to join the self-proclaimed Islamic State, or ISIS, the Department of Justice announced Monday.
Dilkhayot Kasimov, 26, was named in connection with the plot that led to the arrests of three others from Brooklyn in February. He helped raise money for Akhror Saidakhmetov to travel to Syria and join ISIS, authorities said. Kasimov delivered more than $1,600 to Saidakhmetov shortly before Saidakhmetov attempted to board a flight to Turkey at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, according to the indictment. Two other men also have been charged in the plot.
“Kasimov served as a money man in support of a co-defendant’s efforts to join ISIL,” Diego G. Rodriguez, assistant director-in-charge of the FBI's New York office, said in a statement Monday. “He provided encouragement and facilitated travel for foreign fighters. As the recent series of cases indicate, we will pursue every lead and every person who succumbs to this radical agenda.”
Kasimov will be arraigned at a federal courthouse in Brooklyn on Wednesday. The three others charged in the plot all have all pleaded not guilty.
